Pettitte Replaces Buchholz on AL ASG Roster
On the day they announced who made the All-Star Teams this year, they mentioned the fact that Clay Buchholz was injured and would not participate in the game (he should make the festivities however). Regardless, the first pitcher voted by the players who did not make the cut now gets to go to the ASG. And that pitcher was Andy Pettitte of the New York Yankees.
This will be Pettitte's third All-Star Game appearance, and his first since 2001. He now joins six of his fellow Yankee teammates: starters Robinson Cano & Derek Jeter, and reserves Alex Rodriguez, Phil Hughes, Mariano Rivera, and CC Sabathia. Another Yankee, Nick Swisher, is vying to be the eighth Bronx Bomber to get in the game via the final man vote.
For those adding cards to your All-Star Game binder (if you aren't, why not???), Pettitte's 2010 Topps card is #56, and on the 17-card team set, his card is #NYY6.
Sincerely,
JayBee Anama
