As we get closer and closer to the All-Star Game, there are more and more roster updates to report.
Yesterday, it was announced that both Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter of the Yankees are pulling out of the ASG due to the desire to rest injuries and prepare for the second half of the season. They were both elected to start the game this Tuesday. I am not going to argue their reasons good or bad. But they're out and that means there are going to be changes.
With A-Rod out, Adrian Beltre of the Rangers becomes the new starting third baseman. Taking Rodriguez' place on the roster will now be Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox. It will be Youkilis' third All-Star selection, with him now joining fellow All-Stars Adrian Gonzalez, David Ortiz, Josh Beckett, and Jacoby Ellsbury on the roster.
Many on the Internet believed that Asdrubal Cabrera should be the starter for the AL at shortstop over Derek Jeter anyway. Now they get their wish as Jeter is pulling out of the festivities. Cabrera now gets the starting nod and Jhonny Peralta of the Tigers takes Jeter's spot on the roster. A first-time All-Star, Peralta now joins a contingency of Tigers on the All-Star team, including starter Alex Avila, Justin Verlander, Jose Valverde, and Miguel Cabrera.
If you're going to add both Youkilis and Peralta's 2011 Topps cards to your All-Star binder (I'm doing this, I can't be the only one), Youkilis' cards are #500 and BOS 4, and Peralta's cards are #504 and DET9.
More roster changes (and you know there will be) to come soon.
Sincerely,
JayBee Anama

I love comments. Please leave comments!!! (Ego, hush). Just keep your words clean (I show my kids this stuff), and the comment will be accepted.
If you must leave a comment anonymously, that's fine too. Although I wish you wouldn't. I'd like to get to know the people who actually read this humble little blog.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
