Random Topps Card of the Day: 1983 Topps Traded #69T Craig McMurtry

Thanks to the Topps Card Randomizer, introducing the Random Topps Card of the Day for Thursday, February 4, 2010:

  • Official Card Set Name and Card Number: 1983 Topps Traded #69T.
  • Player Name, position, team: Craig McMurtry, pitcher, Atlanta Braves.
  • Major League Debut: April 10, 1983.
  • Last Line of Statistics: 1982 stats (Richmond Braves): 32 G, 210 IP, 17-9, 98 R, 89 ER, 96 SO, 107 BB, 32 GS, 8 CG, 1 SHO, 0 SV, 3.81 ERA.
  • Any special information about player: Drafted by Braves 1st, January 1980. Bats: right, Throws: right.
  • Any special information about this specific card: McMurtry's first Topps regular Topps card. (his rookie card). As he made his MLB debut in April, 1983, and stayed with the team all year, he was added to the Topps Traded set. I guess Topps didn't expect him to make the team to include him in the regular set. The blurb on the back shows three games he helped the Braves win: a 6-1 CG victory against the Mets 04/30/1983, a six inning win against the Astros 05/05/1983, and a hit to earn a win against the Cardinals 05/20/1983. The 1983 Highlights below include three more games: his MLB debut win against the Padres , retiring 20 straight Expos in a win 05/10/1983, and a 3-hit shutout over the Pirates 05/25/1983. He finished the season with a 15-9 record.
  • Lo-Hi Beckett value: $0.08-$0.25.
  • How many cards of this player do I own?: 8 cards.
Tomorrow's card will be: 2000 Topps #185. Post will arrive at 1:00 PM CST. Until tomorrow everybody.

Sincerely,

JayBee Anama

I love comments. Please leave comments!!! (Ego, hush). Just keep your words clean (I show my kids this stuff), and the comment will be accepted.

If you must leave a comment anonymously, that's fine too. Although I wish you wouldn't. I'd like to get to know the people who actually read this humble little blog.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
