- Any special information about this specific card: Pattin's eighth regular Topps card. Topps has used a number of design elements over the years and the 1976 design incorporates two significant ones: the use of a player silhouette representing the position of the subject on the card, and the two-colored border. Behind Marty is the famous Kansas City Royals scoreboard, about 12 stories tall, which incorporates the Royals' logo above center field. The choice of border colors are questionable because while the Royals main color is blue (royal blue perhaps?), where does the orange fit in??? I guess they had to use something as the only other color the Royals used at this time was white, and that doesn't include the gold crown color on the logo (maybe they should have used gold instead...I don't know). The back of the card is mostly green with brown text on gray cardboard stock. Not an easy combination of colors to read (it's like trying to read your front lawn). The blurb on the back states that Marty was "valuable to Royals as both starter and reliever. Marty was mainstay of Bosox staff in 1972, his best year." Marty went 17-13 that year, although he was an All-Star the year before with the Brewers.
- Lo-Hi Beckett value: $0.15-$0.40.

I love comments. Please leave comments!!! (Ego, hush). Just keep your words clean (I show my kids this stuff), and the comment will be accepted.
If you must leave a comment anonymously, that's fine too. Although I wish you wouldn't. I'd like to get to know the people who actually read this humble little blog.
Thank you very much.
